The Decider's Last Hurrah
I just saw a re-run of George W. Bush's very last press conference. In my view it was utterly pathetic, grimly comical and downright revolting.
He bragged about the "surge" in Iraq, but of course he left out the conniving and lies that paved the way to his immoral and illegal war. (And never mind 4,226 dead American troops, probably over 100,000 wounded Americans and possibly more than 1.3 million dead Iraqis.)
He claimed our country's moral standing was not damaged in the wake of his war, torture and extraordinary rendition. This has to be the epitome of total denial.
He said the federal response to Katrina was not slow, even though many victims were not evacuated until a week after the hurricane hit. And he left out the fact that a lot of New Orleans is still a total mess.
The only bright spot is that we will have no more Bush press conferences. Let the nation rejoice!
